Christobell Protty is an established artist from Kaltukatjara (Docker River).
She was born in Areyonga (Utju) before travelling to Kaltukatjara with her family. Her mother is senior law woman and artist, Martha Protty, and as such her knowledge of the landscape and stories surrounding the Kaltukatjara region is strong.
Christobell paints important tjukurpa (dreaming stories) from around the Docker River area, including Manni Manni, and Tjitji Ngatingka.
She is a consistent presence in the art centre, working almost daily on her detailed and layered canvases which crackle with energy and dynamic forms.
